Origin and History

BiYan Institute was founded by Wenteng Chang, whose martial journey began with a fascination for structure, movement, and internal logic.
Drawing from the Yi Zong lineage of internal martial arts, he trained under Luo Dexiu and later developed his own system through years of teaching, research, and cross-disciplinary integration.

Believing that “precision is born from rhythm and clarity,” he established the institute as a space to refine—not preserve—traditional systems.
What began as a personal study evolved into a platform for advanced practitioners, instructors, and fighters seeking depth beyond repetition.

Despite changes in era, geography, and martial culture, the core of this practice has been sustained by dedicated instructors and a growing community of serious learners.

BiYan Institute carries forward this spirit—not through monuments, but through structure, method, and rhythm.
Our work lives in how we move, how we teach, and how we question. It is not preserved in form, but in refinement.

Message

I am Wenteng Chang, founder of BiYan Institute.

In an era of constant noise and acceleration, many practitioners lose their sense of center—not just in life, but in movement. They train harder, but feel less connected. They seek more information, but find less clarity.

At BiYan, we offer a different approach. This is not a place for distraction or display. It is a space for structure, refinement, and recalibration. Here, we slow things down—not to retreat from the world, but to understand how to move through it with intention.

Whether you are a coach, a fighter, or a curious learner at a crossroads, you’re welcome here. Step in, ask questions, train with attention—and let the practice guide you back to clarity.
